Vinegar Hill House has been tucked away in the quirky, quiet, Dumbo-adjacent nook that is Vinegar Hill since 2008, and for nearly that long, it has been the most wonderful restaurant around. The cocktails are bespoke Manhattan and Negroni-types, always handsome and artful. Dinners usually include the juiciest pork chop or a hearty homemade pasta with kill-me-now ragù. Chef and co-owner Jean Adamson, who worked at LES success story Freemans, offers more fatty comfort foods on her weekly changing menu at Vinegar Hill House. Her tender butternut-squash tart with robust farmstead blue cheese was made memorable by golden, flaky pastry; wispy ribbons of pappardelle were coated with a sweet rabbit-and-bacon ragù. The cozy, tavernlike restaurant, located in the forgotten namesake Brooklyn neighborhood, may not be worthy of destination status. Vinegar Hill House is the perfect venue for your next celebration! As the last five years have passed, we at The Infatuation have become considerably more advanced - in experience, in technology, and I am inclined to say, in maturity, but let’s not get carried away. We’ve certainly eaten in Brooklyn a lot more, and Vinegar Hill House has become one of our all-time favorites, thanks to consistently excellent food and one of the best outdoor dining situations in the whole damn city.

We love coming to Vinegar Hill House on a summer weekend evening, right as they open, and grabbing a table in the back yard. Sometimes we’ll even make a day of it, starting on the Manhattan side of the Brooklyn Bridge and taking a walk that ends here. We love the vibe of the restaurant, we love the pasta, we love the wine list, and we looooove the pork chop.
